With the new Aged Care act, there will be a new Single Assessment System to make it easier for older people to access aged care services. This system will be more flexible and better adapt to the needs of elderly individuals.
Minister Anika Wells announced that the government will adjust the start date of a new Aged Care Act to allow for refinements based on feedback. It was originally planned to launch on July 1, however the government is calling for 6-12 months to finalise adjustments to the act including rules and education materials. This also affects the launch of improved Aged Care Quality Standards, which will now start alongside the new Act.
