The federal budget was released last week with some which brought some welcome news. The aged care sector will receive a $5.06 billion increase in funding this year compared to last year, coming to $36.03 billion.
An additional 9,500 home care packages will be made available over the next 12 months, at a cost of $166.8 million.
There is a considerable increase in funding for residential aged care in an effort to help with the current staffing crisis. There have been 23 nursing homes that have closed since the 24/7 registered nurse onsite mandate came into action late last year, which is a year earlier than what was recommended by the royal commission.
