People that work in a high-risk setting may be eligible for a pandemic payment if they test positive for COVID-19, leaving them unable to earn income. The High-Risk Settings Pandemic Payment (HRSPP) can be claimed up to 3 times in 6 months.

Aged care workers in home setting and residential aged care setting are eligible for the HRSPP, as well as hospital staff, and disability staff. Other eligibility requirements include being a casual employee or no paid leave availability, loss of at least 8 hours work, registered your positive COVID-19 result and claim must be submitted within 14 days from the first day being unable to work.

$450 can be claimed for losing 8 – 19 hours of work, and you can claim $750 if you lose 20 hours or more of work. Claims can be made online.

As we age, we will need to take more medications which can increase the risk of contradictions, undesirable effects, and dosage errors. So, to make sure medicine intake is being managed properly, it is important to track it by having a list of medications with dosages for each one.
